The light horses include the Thoroughbred, Turkoman, Akhal-Teke, Anglo-Arab, Standardbred, Morgan, Appaloosa, Hackney, and Lipizzaner. The heavy breeds include the English Shire, Suffolk, Clydesdale, and the French Percheron. Ponies are any horses other than Arabians that are shorter than 14.2 hands.
